The University Daily Kansan
The UDK is the newspaper publication of The University of Kansas. I, along with a team of marketing students, put together a packet of research showcasing how the student body consumes and receives their News. Along with this, we constructed a video campaign to aid in rebranding the Newspaper. This campaign took old stories from previous versions of the UDK and recreated them in video format.
The University Daily Kansan rebranded in 2019. This process included research on their audience, redesigning the website, and changing the paper's format to a more modern and clean presentation.
A student organization that I took part in called The Agency conducted surveys of the student population. These surveys spoke to their understanding of what the UDK was and if they had read it. These surveys also aided in the understanding of what the audience looks for in a News source. Results supported the redesign of both the physical paper and the website. Following the paper's redesign, we created the video campaign labeled “From the Archives,” where we took old stories published from the UDK between 1950 and 1980. We took these stories to show both the newspaper's history and provide an interactive experience for the viewers.
